“the thief confessed that [he had] stolen the vase”

The verb enawrono usually occurs together with the conjunction tyn ‘that’, introducing a subordinate clause that may precede or follow the main one (usually depending on its ‘heaviness’: clauses with more or longer constituents usually follow).
